The Fe (pronounced "Fay") are a parasitic race that have evolved into incredibly efficient traders and spies. Many of the other races in the galaxy have an unusual love/hate relationship with the Fe. A single Fe parasite may live thousands of years and move from host to host as frequently as every five earth years. When they enter a host they often alter that being's body chemistry and mental structure, allowing for better reflexes, strength, and memory retention. When they leave their host these improvements are left intact. In some cases there is a long waiting list to be a Fe host. The Fe have many tactics designed to thwart enemy tactics and disable or control their ships.
